Google authorship pictures gone… now back

Over the last few weeks I have noticed the disappearance of a lot of the Google authorship images in the SERPS. It didn’t appear to affect all pages on a site, especially not blog pages. However there was definitely a drop in the images in the SERPS.

This appears to be sorted as authorship images are definitely back in swing. I’m wondering whether there has been an update or whether Google is testing things such as authorship CTR or a completely different update altogether.

I have searched the forums and key blogs but no real activity to report. It could be a Christmas / New Year lull that is leading to the lack of activity or talk about this but I’m sure it won’t be the last time we will see it. Watch Google Authorship for an upcoming update…
